Sandy is a big, beautiful 18-19 year old pinto mare, standing 15.3 hands tall and very solid. She's a bit lazy and are initially recommending an intermediate rider as she can refuse to move, and she's been a little anxious ridden outside the pen, but every ride she improves leaps and bounds and remembers her training. She has given us walk/trot/canter under saddle and is easy to be around and work with.
She does not seem to understand how to lunge or round pen, and instead prefers to join up and be with you. We suspect if she has a decent rider to keep refreshing her that she will be safe for a more beginner rider - we'd trust riders 11+ with her now, and will likely ride out nicely on the trails for just about anyone in a group. She can be a little tough to catch and we are using treats right now. She's very friendly and will be the first to come up and greet you.
Sandy was an owner surrender and came to GSH due to divorce and loss of the property she lived on.
