Fleurie (aka Erin)
Erin is a sweet mustang filly. Due to the neglect she suffered she has ringbone and will likely only be able to do groundwork and maybe leadline. She loves people and is easy to handle!
Erin is from the International Society for the Protection of Mustangs and Burros, and came to GSH in November of 2016 during a crisis at ISPMB involving county impounding and seizure, overcrowding and lack of resources. Erin was thin on intake and in need of a trim for her hooves, but with time and good care should be fine.
UPDATE: After a mysterious lameness, we took Erin into the vet for X-rays and found that due to her history of starvation/malnutrition, Erin's bones did not get enough calcium to support her growing body. She has a diagnosis of ring-bone with bone chips and will not be rideable in the future. We are hopeful with time that the joints fuse and she will be a suitable pasture pal.
