Update on Thomas!!

We got an update on Thomas today from Central Dakota Animal Clinic! Thomas has been in the hospital since Wednesday, fighting pneumonia. He is a new horse to us, is about 20 and has Cushings and heaves, but will be staying with us to work in our educational program, the Bug Club. He developed a cough which we thought was just his heaves, but he rapidly went downhill and developed a fever.

 

He's been on IV, IM and oral antibiotics while at the vet, and thankfully has improved! He is no longer wheezing and no crackling can be heard in the lungs, he's eating and drinking well, and ready to come home. They stopped the IV and IM antibiotics today and we will pick him up tomorrow!
