#RehabRoundup - let's check in on the horses currently in rehab at the rescue

🏥Medical 🏥

Apricot - 11/11 auction save, 20-yr-old pony mare, emaciated. Done with refeed and adding grain for calories. QT done 12/2. Will see vet for dental soon.

Sterling - 11/11 auction save, 23-yr-old gray gelding, emaciated. Done with refeed and adding grain for calories. QT done 12/2. Will see vet for dental soon.

Cinna - 11/11 auction save, 5-yr-old QH gelding, swollen/injured leg. QT done 12/2. Scheduled for x-rays on 12/11.

Sugar - Surgery to remove squamous cell carcinoma completed on 11/21. 10 days antibiotics, recheck in 3 weeks to remove stitches. Biopsied two small suspicious areas to see if further chemotherapy is needed. Awaiting results and nearly done with antibiotics, doing well.

Benny - navicular. Still working on pain management. Soreness seems more focused on right front, and he did have a left hind tendon injury, so we are wondering at this point if his soreness is more related to that than the tiny bit of navicular that the x-rays showed. Will likely remain no rehab all winter; considering trying Osteo-Max and/or Osphos treatments for relief.

🥕 Behavior 🥕

Lucy - in pasture, calm and friendly. Much calmer when bonded friends removed from pasture and accepting attention even in a group of friends without aggression. Has been accepting the halter over her nose and not showing any aggression when her friends are removed. Goal: Dakota Showdown 2024 prospect.
 
Kody - in pasture, calming, and curious. Physical condition fully rehabbed, working on friendliness. Is being caught and brought in, and had his first (lightly sedated) meeting with the farrier.
