It is not whether your words or actions are tough or gentle; it is the spirit behind your actions and words that announces your inner state.
A collection of our thoughts, tips and tricks, resources, training and adoption news, and pretty much everything that crosses our mind!
Looking to add to our hay!
Gentle Spirit Horses is a 501(c)3 non-profit rescue and sanctuary for horses based out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Our mission is to provide assistance to neglected, abused and unwanted horses, and through outreach and education, promote responsible horse ownership.
Changes and Growth
We've hinted, posted some pictures, even said it a few times. Now, we officially announce: as of May 1, GSH is leasing an additional 28 acres approximately 6 miles from our current Renner location.
Keeping Callie Safe - A Recap
For the past six weeks, Gentle Spirit Horses has worked hard to fundraise to secure the offspring of a previously adopted mare who was consigned to the Buckeye Morgan Horse Auction in Ohio. The good news is we secured her and she's now in foster in Michigan, settling in, has a pending home, and is doing great! The bad news is we are about $900 short in our fundraising efforts to pay back the Board member who loaned the purchase money to secure her to GSH.
Gentle Spirit Horses Rescue & Sanctuary is a PENDING 501(c)(3) organization ... and some history.
We announced back in January when we filed our 501(c)(3) paperwork, and now have received the first in a series of steps from the IRS to reach our determination. This simple letter is simply the verification they have received and are processing our application. With this letter in hand, we can legitimately state we are a pending 501(c)(3) organization.
Gentle Spirit Horses Rescue and Borderlands Horse Sanctuary to attend MN Unwanted Horse Summit
Kathi Ring and Tiffany Ring of Gentle Spirit Horses Rescue & Sanctuary, along with Shanna Border of Borderlands Horse Sanctuary and volunteer Carla Polkowski will be attending the University of Minnesota's Unwanted Horse Summit this Saturday, March 8, 2014. Our rescues work closely together and are looking forward to attending this Summit, which promises to not only be informative but also gives us the chance to network and discuss the real issues facing horses and rescues in the Midwest today.
