New intakes from the Corsica auction Stanley and Teddy want to send a huge thank you to all of you who donated to help them be safe and Horse Plus Humane Society who granted them an auction grant as part of the Full Circle of Life Horse Shelter Network. As you know, due to the large amount of attention and out of state buyers, we didn't fundraise in advance and our bids were run up so while we barely covered the purchase price with donations, we did not raise our normal amount for their intake costs and one month of care. This grant helps bridge that gap a bit!
Winnie is such a cutie!! Though she's very young and definitely unhandled, we are working daily to help her learn to lead and be handled enough to visit the vet, which is scheduled for next Tuesday, the 21, at Nebraska Equine. We feel they are the best option to give her any chance at a future.
She does try to use her leg appropriately and stand on the hoof normal - but the hoof is grown under and she does knuckle over. We are trying not to get our hopes up ... but there is some hope.
We estimate that her vetting will be about $500-600 for initial exam and x-rays. If no options for a normal and pain free life, euthanasia costs are approximately $600. If there's an option for treatment, we suspect it will be around the same, if not more, so we are needing to raise $1200-1500 for her vet visit.
Just like with Trooper last summer, we have to have the funds to be able to say yes to any potential treatment. Please consider a donation to allow us to say yes if there's a chance that Winnie can have a normal life ... or to provide her with a peaceful, humane goodbye if she has no chance:
