It was fall vet day at the rescue today and we were busy! Thanks to
Central Dakota Animal Clinic for coming to the farm and Pat and Katie for helping out!
Dentals:
- Melody
- Walter
- Big D (Delegate)
- Paige
- Sully
- Maverick
- Sugar
- Earl
- Stanley
Also checked were Luna and Sonny, who did not need floats.
While sedated, we checked out some growths on Maverick's eyelid as potential squamous cell carcinoma since he has a bald face. They were easily removed so are hopefully just scabs, however we will watch how they heel. Unfortunately, as he relaxed we noticed an angry red spot on his private parts, which is likely squamous cell carcinoma (aggressive cancer) so he will need to go in for a biopsy and potential surgery to remove it.
Paige was aged older than we'd like, and will need to go to the office for a pregnancy check.
Vixen (a recent adoption return) was seen for some potential breathing issues, but her lungs sounded good so we will monitor her cough.
Whitney was seen for the growths on her face which we believe to be baby warts at this time, with the ones on her nose possibly being sarcoids. We will give her time to see if they go away on their own.
Winnie had a nice "recheck" since Dr. Brittney did her initial x-rays and they are happy with how she is doing. They also got to see how well Dex is doing and are happy with her progress as well!
Coggins and Health Certificates were done for Lucky Boy, Teddy, Cinna and Earl who are going to Missouri, as well as Luna (who got her strangles vaccine) who is going to Fargo for training. Earl also had his abscess double checked and drilled out a bit more.
Sully also has been having some weakness in his stifle area (he's about 30), so we had that checked. He has some inflation and failed a neurological exam, so bloodwork was pulled to rule out EPM.
Melody and Ricky returned to Iowa today, and Sugar went along to be fostered over the winter. So Coggins were pulled for her as well since she didn't have one.
