Happy New Year ... and Happy Birthday?
Happy New Year ... and Happy Birthday?
It is customary in a large portion of the horse community to "age up" all horses on January 1. While primarily done for racing and the show world, it's become something that is "just done" ... especially in rescue, when we rarely have actual birthdays.
So ... everyone just had a birthday! That means we currently have a range of ages from yearling to 40ish. We'll do individual posts with photos of each group, but here's how it breaks down:
8 horses - Kiwi (40+), Shanno (38), Buddy (36), Chip (32), George (32), Paisley (31), Princess Di (30), Sully (30)
Seniors (22-29):
10 horses - Sonny, Dex, Simba, Pepper, Jazz, Monroe, Turbo, Beau, Honey, Delegate "Big D"
Seasoned Adults (13-21):
20 horses - Thomas, Plucky, Dottie, Belle, Gracie, Prince, Airforce, Maverick, Benny, Vanessa, Jack, Walter, Skye, Harper, Reba, June, Jinny, Cola, Yogi, Lucy
Prime Adults (8-12):
10 horses - Paige, Vixen, Eliana, Luna, Dollar, Hamilton, Charlotte, Casper, Sienna, Suki
Young Adults (4-7):
3 horses - Smokey, Whitney, Jeremiah
Little Ones (3 and under):
3 horses - Eloise, Winnie, Nelson

Our waiting list has 3 horses in the Senior age group and one in the Seasoned Adults, and of course we have the 6 BLM "Little Ones" coming in sometime this month!
4 of the horses on the list are in Foster - Luna and Casper are foster to adopt; Jack and Harper are in training in Tennessee and looking for homes. That leaves 50 horses at the Shelter!
