We've figured out who recent intake Big D (Delegate) actually is! Big D is a tattoed Thoroughbred, meaning once we figured out his tattoo we could find who he was! The Jockey Club has a lot of resources even if you only have a partial tattoo - and when he got his teeth floated we got a clear look and easily read the first letter was F, making him 22 years old. The rest looked like 3100_ = and we were 95% sure when we found the info for "Delegate It", tattoo number F31000. Once we found his markings we knew we had the perfect match.

So, everyone meet Big D - aka Delegate It. This 22-yr-old Thoroughbred gelding raced 27 times - until he was 7 years old! He wasn't super successful, but that's a lot of starts! He does have one win at Turf Paradise, a second finish, and 3 thirds ... but all in all he just didn't have a lot of luck, though we're told he raced at some pretty big tracks.

Big D is 16.3 hands tall and rapidly gaining weight. He was an owner surrender who came to us all the way from Utah! His owners are older, and the husband died, then the wife had a major injury so put him and his friends in a boarding situation where they unfortunately were bullied off the food - and then evicted because of their condition The owner was distraught, but her son stepped in to try to figure something out for them. Transporting them to his place in Pennsylvania was going to be difficult, and he knew our local sheriff who is a horse trainer as well, so asked if he could help out. He said yes, and when they arrived realized that Big D and Maverick were in need of a lot of TLC so asked us to help out. We gladly said yes.

Big D may be large, but he's just about the sweetest boy you will ever meet. He's gentle, smart, absolutely loves being around people, and we are told he is absolutely safe for anyone to ride. As he continues to gain weight we'd love to entertain homes for him. Do you have room for this sweet gentle giant? Let us know!
