A big welcome to Maverick and Delegate!
These two have been very well loved, however a death in the family followed by a significant injury found the in need of help. The owners even tried a boarding barn but because one horse was a bully the others weren't getting enough food and lost weight. Though the horses were in Utah, our local sheriff knew a relative of the owners. The sheriff is also a trainer, so he agreed to take them in and try to rehome them. Unfortunately, as soon as they stepped off the trailer he knew they would need rehab time with their condition so reached out to us. The more dominant horse is in great shape, so he's working with him, but brought these two over this morning.
Maverick is the pinto. He's about 14-15 years old, is a BLM mustang, stands about 14.2-14.3 and has been ridden in the past.
Delegate is a 22-23 year old Thoroughbred, stands about 16.1-16.2, and is said to be kid safe for riding. He obviously needs some rehab time, probably needs a dental (though a vet looked in his mouth on a layover from the trip and said they looked good), and may need extra feed to keep his weight up - not surprising for a Thoroughbred.
We're always happy to assist our local law enforcement, even if it's not a legal case, and are glad to welcome these two. Both will be looking for homes when a little healthier!
