The horses who come through GSH have a safety net with us for life ... and sometimes that makes all the difference. Sometimes things just fall in place and timing works out, as well. Today was one of those days.
Willow, who was known as Hannah while here, was adopted twice before in 2016. Her first home adored her and loved the safety net, and when it became clear she was not going to fit into their herd they brought her back to give her a better option. She went on to be adopted into a wonderful family who unfortunately went through some changes this year that made it ultimately in the best interests for Willow to return to us.
Except, at the same time that Willow's adopter came to terms with the need to bring her back, we had someone reach out with questions about a few horses. Knowing Willow's history and that she was coming available, she was one of them we mentioned as a possibility. Well, everything clicked, the adopter was able to meet Willow in her home, and today Willow quietly went from one home to another with everyone feeling just a little bit better about a very sad situation.
Lots of love to Willow's previous adopter who is definitely feeling a big hole in her pasture and heart tonight, and congratulations and thank you to her new adopter who made this all work and even offered to allow her previous adopter to visit.
Rescue isn't just about the horses, it's a lot about the people, and today was one of those days that proved it.
