Lafayette is from the International Society for the Protection of Mustangs and Burros, and came to GSH in November of 2016 during a crisis at ISPMB involving county impoundment and seizure, overcrowding and lack of resources. Lafayette is a gelding who was kept close to the house in a pen environment, and not wild in the pastures. Accordingly, he[...]
Cinnamon is an adorable, sweet pony who adores attention and grooming. She was surrendered after she was bought by a couple who was told when they bought her that she just needed some farrier work done. Her feet needed more than just a simple trim and the couple felt that the rescue had the resources to give her the treatment that she needed. She[...]
Hannah is an absolutely beautiful, petite 3 year old Tennessee Walker. She has great ground manners, is easy to catch and lead, ties, loads, good for farrier, and moves out nicely. She is gaited and is expressing her gait regularly. Hannah does have a trot, and during growth spurts will trot more than gait, but as she is developing running walk is[...]
Vixen is a big, solid, friendly girl. Her 2.5 year old teeth have also not yet come out but mentally she's much older than Tahni. She's showing signs of the pending 2-3 year old "teenage" years in horses, growing from a baby to figuring out who she will be as a mare. Vixen is 14.1 hands right now and will probably end up around 14.3-15 hands. She[...]
UPDATE August 2016: Gunner has returned with GSH Andrea from a summer of doing guided trails at a ranch in the mountains of North Carolina. He is as sweet as ever and is now very well broke for any level of rider. He's willing and kind.
Gunner is a super sweet 10 year old quarter horse. He is friendly and loves people (and treats!). Gunner has[...]
This is Dash (aka Dasher), another of the five Ryon's Pen unhandled two years olds that came in to GSH in early December. She has always been more standoffish than the three we have haltered and in training, and so far is barely allowing touch. But she did follow Noelle into the round pen Sunday and we were able to work with her at liberty and[...]
Arden is a weanling mustang from Teddy Roosevelt National Park purchased directly by Tiffany Ring of GSH.
This is 2 year old Diesel, last seen as a weanling with his look-a-like Mama Punkin. He was fostered which turned into an adoption, however due to health considerations with his adopter he has returned to GSH to find a new home. He is an adorable miniature horse who is just looking for somone to love him and give him some scratches!
Annie is a 7 year old Clydesdale/TB cross (we've also been told Mustang/TB cross, so unsure). She was horribly abused in the past. We were told she was beat with ropes and whips by her original owner. She has a hernia which is small and won’t doesn’t require surgery. She does have a scarred/cut ear, we were told from barb wire.
She LOVES people[...]
King is beautiful, mellow Arabian gelding who comes to GSH due to loss of interest of his owners. He and his friend Paison (GSH0220, now named Mason) lived down the road from a boarding barn and would get out and come visit. Eventually the owner said no one at their place had interest in them and turned them over to the boarding barn, who[...]
UPDATE MAY 2016: Sheldon has been adopted and well cared for since shortly after his birth. He has been boarded with GSH for the majority of his adoption, however financial circumstances have unfortunately caused Sheldon to be returned to GSH. He's turned into a big, healthy, strong boy and at 3.5 now is ready to go into training and really become[...]
Farrah was donated to GSH due to injury and illness in their breeder's family. She is a large, halter-bred Quarter Horse/Paint. She is halter broke but is a little tough to catch. Farrah is very well bred, are young and sane, and beautiful - they will shine at local shows if someone puts the training into them. She is not registered but can[...]
January 2016: After being placed in an adoptive home for the past 4 years, Moxie has returned to GSH due to some changes in her adopter's life. She is a beautiful, healthy, strong Thoroughbred mare but seems to be struggling with some confidence and anxiety issues. Her adopter reports some stiffness in her stifle which we will watch for and[...]
Persnickety is a sweet coming 2 year old buckskin suspected Morgan that GSH rescued from an auction December 2015. Nicky is super kind and will learn fast! She's easy to catch, learning to lead well, loaded and tied in the trailer and was great for her shots and Coggins! This girl is ready for her home. She may be a little young to start under[...]
Angel has lived with EZ/Goat for 20 years, and at this time we will not separate them. Angel is a well broke, big solid Appaloosa gelding donated to GSH due to his owners' retiring. He has been extensively trail ridden for years and is healthy, sane and sound. Special consideration given to a home that adopts them together, and we will discount[...]

Rubi Zu is a lovely Arabian mare originally brought into GSH as her owner couldn't care for her. She'd been out of hay for 2+ months and attempting to maintain her on senior feed, however Rubi Zu lost weight quickly and was actually colicing when we were originally contacted. Rubi was brought in quickly and put into a foster who started the[...]
UPDATE September 2015: DC has returned to GSH to find a new home as he isn't suited for the lesson program at his previous placement. DC is started with Clinton Anderson ground work and has been started under saddle. He has had a lot of round pen work and time under saddle, however returned to GSH with a swollen back and reports of a bucking[...]
Update Summer 2015: Butters has become extremely friendly this summer. She has gotten her feet trimmed with light sedation with GSH's normal farrier instead of the vet. We are hoping to start her under saddle this summer!
Butters is slightly aloof, but she is getting more friendly every day. She's tough to catch in a large pasture, but not bad in[...]
Sable is an owner donation due to changing financial circumstances. He's a wonderful boy! He has a couple small vices - he can be earshy, can pull and run away (rope halter stops this), and can back out of the trailer if the door isn't shut. Both are things he's working through already and has been a very good boy for us. He's a bit more of a[...]
