Copper came to GSH as a lovely 2 year old who has been well loved his entire life. He is easy to catch and has decent ground manners, ties, leads, loads. He does need work for the farrier. He is very loving, mellow and loves attention. His mama is Dakota, a BLM mustang mare who was placed through GSH, and his daddy is a black quarter horse. Now 2 years old, Copper will be starting ground work and basic training this year, perhaps being backed and a couple of light rides if he's ready for them. He has been saddled and is learning to lunge. He's remaining a smaller horse, though he does have a few more years to grow.
Update 08/21/2014: Copper has been backed! He's spent the summer working on ground work and manners, especially in picking up his feet for the farrier. He has done very well and is turning into a lovely horse! He has been saddled and backed and had his initial ride. Due to his young age, we will likely only ride him a couple more times before giving him the winter off to grow up a bit. Copper is going to remain a smaller horse, probably under 14.2, and has the right temperment and personality to someday be a great family horse. He is smart and friendly.
