Shelly came from a large herd in which the elderly owners needed to downsize. She is a sweet little pony but can be shy at times and needs an owner that will have time to give her plenty of love. We do not know if she is broke at this time She loves apple treats and will follow you around for them. She is blind in her right eye but this should not be a huge disability for her to overcome.
UPDATE 10/1/2013. Shelly is the cutest little pony…she’s as round as she is tall! She came from the same place as Yogi and the other donkeys. Her life has been devoted to babies, and she’s in her teens. The elderly couple that had her needed to downsize, so she came to us. She’s shy, but loves treats and can be bought with them!...the children at her former home were hopping on her and such but she’s not well broke…we’re thinking she may have a bit of Heaves, as her breathing trouble comes and goes. She’s eating well and doesn’t seem to be bothered by it the last couple of days.
NOTE - we go back and forth a lot on whether or not we should adopt her out since she does seem to have heaves or something similar. But ultimately, we do not believe we are the only people who can provide good care to special needs horses, and as of this point she does not require any special treatment for it. She's a lovely pony who really enjoyed the kids in her last home, so we feel it's only fair that we give her the opportunity to find a home with children and hope she does find one. We'd be willing to work with the absolute perfect home for her.
