Lauren is from the International Society for the Protection of Mustangs and Burros, and came to GSH in November of 2016 during a crisis at ISPMB involving county impoundment and seizure, overcrowding and lack of resources. Lauren is in good body weight on intake with ok hooves, however she appears to be suffering from uveitis or some other problem with her eyes. One eye appears to be completely blind with a cloudy cataract, the other has shown redness and swelling which have gone down since getting her into an environment with shelter and trees and out of the harsh sun and dust. She is reported to be 3-4 years old, which is believable given her size and build, however we have not yet verified this by her teeth. Due to her suspected age, and the mixed herds allowed at ISPMB, Lauren has been with stallions and we have to assume she is bred for a 2017 foal. Lauren will remain on rehab at GSH until we can have her eyes evaluated and provide any treatment that could help.
