Meet Ash, weanling Mustang from Teddy Roosevelt National Park

Known as Arizona in the park, Ash has come to GSH due to a problem in his hind end that currently makes him unsound with an uncertain future. In the first two weeks we focused on rapid gentling and he has now been x-rayed and found a large floating OCD lesion in his left hind stifle. He will likely need surgery to remove it. His injury has caused him to stretch and hyperextend his hocks, so he is on stall rest to help reduce the damage to those, and we are hopeful that there won't be long term damage to his hocks.

We will keep you updated as Ash gets treatment, and be sure to follow us on Facebook for more regular updates.
