June means that most of our spring work is done and it's time to work with the horses! After a winter off, we are all feeling a little fluffy, so stretching and building up our physical fitness is important for both human and horse. Here's a fun video to watch about different stretches we like to do with our horses!
With school out, are you "feeling your oats" a little bit? Lots of energy? Here are some fun horse-related stretches and physical activities you can do to burn off some of that extra energy and get fit for riding!
Chair Pose – Think of sitting on your horse!
Boat Pose or Locust pose – Hold your body in this position like a horseshoe. Gently rock back and forth if you would like.
Tree Pose – Add the lasso above your head!

The June Hands-On activity will be Sunday, June 19, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. It's a RIDING MONTH! That's right, we'll do some stretches and physical activities, learn about stretches the horses can do, and end the day with pony rides! We will meet at the gas station at the Humboldt, SD exit off of I-90 between 12:45 and 1:00 and head to the farm together. Hands-On Memberships are $36 per year and allow you to attend up to 8 Hands-On Sessions a year. If you aren't a Hands-On Member, you can join us for a Hands-On Activity for $5 per child per session.
