Gentle Spirit Horses is a rescue and sanctuary for horses based out of Scotland, South Dakota, with a satellite location near Forest City, Iowa. We serve the entire state of South Dakota. Our mission is to provide assistance to neglected, abused and unwanted horses, and through outreach and education, promote responsible horse ownership.

GSH Main - Scotland, South Dakota

In 2019, GSH moved to our permanent location near Scotland, SD. The 40-acre property has large, open pastures, a beautiful grove of trees, and many outbuildings to meet the needs of the horses. Our stall barn has four 10'x12' stalls and two 12'x12' stalls (one expands to 12x24 as needed) for medical needs and feeding purposes. Currently there are four smaller paddocks and one large, 30+ acre pasture available to the horses, all with shelter. Our 60-foot round pen is used for training and the surrounding countryside makes for great trail riding.

Stay tuned for more information about our new location and how you can help us make it a horse heaven!
